ABOUT US
The Canadian Home and School Federation (CHSF) is a organization that promotes the involvement of parents at every level of education decision making to ensure that legislators, educators, and community organizations act in the best interest of children. Members of CHSF meet to share information and resources and to raise concerns that must be addressed at the national level. The Federation dates back to 1895 and since its inception, CHSF has advocated for Canadian children in their homes, their public school and in their communities.
CHSF is a recognized association governed by elected or appointed volunteer representatives from each member province to form the Board of Directors. The Board governs the organizations through policy and by-laws. Home and School/School Council umbrella organizations in each of the Canadian provinces and territories are eligible for membership.

President's Welcome
Welcome to the Canadian Home and School Federation web-site. This national organization is comprised of parents who volunteer in or for schools through Home and School Associations and Parent / School Advisory Councils. CHSF is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization.
In order to realize our vision, “excellence in public education of all Canadian children and youth”, and to achieve our mission, “the national voice of parents, promoting excellence in public education as well as the social well-being of children and youth”, our decision making is grounded by core values. These core values include public education, parent involvement and partnerships, independence balanced with meaningful partnerships, volunteerism, research, special worth of every child and youth, respect and dignity, and fiscal responsibility.
The Canadian Home and School Federation believes all children and youth in Canada are entitled to an excellent public education. Parents must be recognized as key education partners in preserving and promoting excellence in public education. The health and well-being of Canadian students are essential components to learning. Parents must be valued and respected in their role as advocates for children and youth.
Parents like you and I do make a difference. Become involved in your children’s school or the school in your community.
